- This radio, like other contemporary Sarkes-Tarzian radios with FM, uses a 12BN6 FM discriminator, which eliminates the need for an audio preamp stage. The 12BN6 was usually seen in TV sets, but rarely seen in FM radios. The first IF stage is the triode in the 19EA8 in cascode configuration, driven by the plate of the triode frequency converter in the 19CL8A.
