Summary:

Chicago Miniature Lamp Co.
4433 North Ravenswood Ave, Chicago, Illinois

Brand: Chilco

The company made a large range of specialised miniature lamps including radio dial/panel types. They had no radio tube involvement

Closed: 1987
History:

Founded around World War One, the company developed and made several hundred types of specialised and standard miniature lamps for medical, industrial and commercial use.

In 1987 the company was bought by the EBT Optronics Group in England. Some lamps made in the UK were sold in Chicago Miniature boxes stating "made in England". In 2001 EBT was acquired by Sylvania Lighting Industries.

From his earliest days, Otto Forssburgh (Vossburgh?), the design engineer, amassed a collection of a few thousand experimental and sample lamps from other companies. Following his retirement in the late 1960's, he had this great collection displayed on a billiard table in his den at his house in Evanston. It is not known what happened to these but at least two serious lamp collectors were given permission to select a hundred or so for themselves in 1969.

This manufacturer was suggested by Fin Stewart.
