History: |
Shaw Television Corp.; 195 Front Street, Brooklyn 1, New York did manufacture at least one TV chassis, "224" with 23 tubes (SAMS Photofact set 202, folder 8 of May 1953). This resulted in "runs" 301, 302, 303, 304, 304-1, 304-2, 305 and 305-2. We are not quite sure if small transistor radios like the model 6TR6 have been manufactured or marketed by the same company. We believe it is an other company and would be grateful for further information.
In 1996 Cleo Zymaris, Northport, NY wrote this to ARC: Shaw Television Corp was "... Basically a cabinet manufacturer in Brooklyn, N. Y., the Shaw Company built and decorated cabinets for 17-, 20-, and maybe 21-inch CRTs. The electronics was a modified RCA 630. The major modifications typically consisted of the following: 1. Using a Standard Co. turret-type tuner rather than the RCA wafer switch tuner with the three Type 6J6 tubes. 2. Adding keyed AGC. (The original 630 had no AGC.) 3. Using high horizontal deflection voltage. The larger CRTs had a greater deflection angle and required more high voltage. 4. Modifying some vertical circuits for increased sweep by changing the vertical output 6K6 to a 6V6 or a 6S4. --Cleo Zymaris, Northport, NY |
