Hartleys was a sports store selling Silvatone brand radios from 1924 until the early 1950s.

The radios were rebranded and the actual manufacturer is not known.

Founded: 1923
Production: 1924 - 1951
History:

Hartleys was a sports store selling mainly Australian Rules footballs, boots, and apparel in Melbourne in 1923. [1] This was soon followed by cricket, fishing, and shooting equipment.

In November 1924 they advertised crystal sets and Silvatone brand valve sets. The manufacturer of these sets is unknown.[2]

This was soon followed with Silvatone battery-powered, 4 & 5 valve radio receivers.[3]

Around 1927 they sold an interesting extension speaker, The Silvatone Rose Bowl, shaped like a flower vase that could hold water.

The company expanded as a large sporting department store and was still selling Silvatone radios in 1951.[3]
