The Thomson-Houston International Electric Company was organized as a sales organization in 1884. In 1892, Thomson-Houston was merged with the Edison General Electric Co. of Schenectady, NY to form the General Electric Co. Stocks of both Thomson-Houston and Thomson-Houston International were transferred to the General Electric Company's stock effective on and after July 1st that year. The Compagnie Française Thomson Houston (CFTH) was formed in 1893, in 1896 the British Thomson-Houston (BTH) was created, both as a subsidiary of General Electric. |
