Radio Marlein was founded by Oscar Marlein (born in 1905 in Bredene). His company manufactured radios, including the wooden cabinets. The shop sold radios, pick-ups, record discs and audio amplifiers. As from 1949 TV sets, TV antennas and jukeboxes were added to the portfolio.

Oscar Marlein died in 1960 in Gent. Until 1995 the business was continued by his son Marcel, who embarked in 1949.
