History:

Bryson D. Horton establishes the McBride Manufacturing Company in 1902. The company is renamed to Detroit Fuse and Manufacturing between 1902 and 1917.

In 1917, the company changes its name to Square D, based on its trademark "D" appearing on conduit boxes and switches. At the same time they cease manufacture of fuses.

Square D has 18,500 employees and operations in 23 countries when it joins Schneider Electric in 1991.
