Francis James Webber Fear (c 1857-1947) started business in 1880 importing, manufacturing, selling and repairing of sewing machines, bicycles, and all kinds of light machinery in Willis Street, Wellington.[1] During 1936 they started to sell kitset radios designed by Australasian Radio News.[2] They sold UTC amplifiers and transformers and Meissiner radio kitsets and components imported from the USA in 1939. In the 1950’s they advertised as Fear's appliance store and record lounge and also sold radios manufactured by New Zealand manufacturers.[3]
