During the 1930s, Ungar advertised a "Magic Stylus" along with the "Pyro-Graf" set, an electric wood burner pencil and metal applicator, pitched at young consumers. The pencil was registered in 1933 as a label with the USPO. The company name was changed to Ungar Electric Tools Inc. in 1945. The Ungar trademark was registered in 1956. In 1958, the Eldon Manufacturing Company of Los Angeles acquired controlling interest in Ungar Electric Tools, with both companies operating independently but under the presidency of Robert Silverstein. [1] Ungar merged with Weller in May 1992. [2] Weller had previsouly been bought by Cooper Industries, Inc. in 1970. [3] Cooper still holds the Ungar trademark as of 2018.
