Storia: |
Consulting Engineer Ernest Gordon Beard founded the company in September 1931 after he left the Electric Corporation of Australia Ltd. Prior to this he was Chief Engineer at United Distributors Ltd. [1] He was also Consulting Engineer for radio station 2GB. [2] The company manufactured mobile transceivers for transmission line maintenance for the Lithgow Power Station and the NSW Railways. [3] They also manufactured and installed “Udisco” marine spark transmitter/receivers. [4] United Distributors Ltd. also used the "Udisco" brand. In 1938 the company had an experimental licence for the development of a radio distance measuring device by radio echoes. When WW2 broke out the Navy made him destroy all prototypes and records and ordered him to maintain secrecy of the project. In 1947 Beard stated that this partly contributed to the company’s demise. [5] The company went into liquidation April 1940. [6]
