Products: Model types
Summary:

F. G. Mason Engineering Inc.
Fairfield, Connecticut

A series of surveillance receivers was developed by F. G. Mason, and the company made a name for itself especially in the field of broadband receivers for the detection of small transmitters ("bug finding").

Founded: 1961
Closed: 1990
History:

Frank Masen founded his company in 1961, and he brought experience and several patents as an engineer in the field of developing HF and UHF tuners in the television sector.  F. G. Mason quickly developed into an important developer of "bug finding" surveillance receivers, with which rooms could be examined for the presence of eavesdropping systems with small transmitters (so-called "bugs").

After the A-1, which was developed for military purposes, the extremely successful and widely used civilian model A-2 came onto the market.  The receiver in its smart leather case was available from 1964 to 1985.

With the Mini Probe Receiver MPR-1, and the successor device MPR-5 with digital frequency display, F. G. Masen was successful until the 1990's.  A case of bribery eventually led to the company's demise.

This manufacturer was suggested by Martin Bösch.
