Val Leach a World War I radio operator was frustrated by the two-way communication technology that prevented a receiving telegraph operator from breaking into or stopping a sender's transmission. In 1919, he invented the Leach Break-in Relay, a device that revolutionized telecommunications, launched the Leach Relay Company and began building and selling these relays.

With this invention it makes it possible for the receiving operator to break into or stop a  sender's transmission thus eliminating the need to resend a message or stop a message with misinformation. In critical situations this could save lives. 
 
In 1929 Leach moved to Los Angeles, California and hired his first employee. From 1930 to 1939 many new types of relays were added to the product line. Employees had now grown to 20, by the end of 1940 they were at 75 and by August 1941 they were at 125.  In October 1941 tragedy struck, Val Leach was killed in an automobile accident. The Corporation was able to keep running and prospered. During the war years demand  grew exponentially and employee count had risen to 800.

From the 1950's onward until today 2020 the Corporation has had tremendous growth and expanded globally.
