History: |
In July 1922, the Baldwin Radio Company in Salt Lake CIty with a capital of $1,000,000 was organized and completely financed. The company had the license to manufacture the Nathaniel Baldwin Radio Telephone Headset and Loud Speaker. The new factory had a daily capacity of 2,000 complete head sets.[1] According to a Feb 1923 article, a new company Baldwin International Radio, Inc. was said to be incorporated with a capital of $1,250,000 in Chicago, the new company being responsible for the sales of Nathaniel Baldwin products in all countries except the USA and her possessions, excluding Japan, Australia, China and India.[2] Nathaniel Baldwin, Inc. went into receivership ca. mid-1926 [3] but was still active into the mid-1930s. In the beginning of 1930, Nathaniel Baldwin, Inc. bought the assets of the bankrupt Buckingham Radio Corp. of Chicago. The same year, Baldwin introduced a line of radio sets.[4] In 1931, a French Baldwin Radio Corporation of 5, rue Denis-Poisson, Paris, offered the Zaney-Gill Musicbox under their name. This company was founded in 1930 by "Baldwin M. Baldwin" and "W.F. Higgins", both giving Paris addresses at the incorporation. It's currently unclear if there is a connection.
