History:

Universal Talking Machine Company was founded in 1899 by Frank Seaman in Camden, New Jersey as Zonophone (early Zon-O-Phone), but this name was only applied to records and machines of the Company.
The name (Zonophone) was acquired by Columbia Records, the Victor Talking Machine Company and finally by the Gramophone Company/Emi Records. It has been used for a number of records publishing labels by these companies.
