Histoire: |
In 1935, Marconiphone, Inc. advertised the Automatic Radio-Phonograph Marconiphone Junior with record changer, some years prior to the Candian Marconi Junior, which is a record player only. In 1936, the magazine Radio Today published a list of radio-phonograph combinations where the company name is (likely) misrepresented as Marconiphone Co. at the same address. Also in 1936, at least one patent was registered for radio-phonograph combinations under the name of Marconi Bros., Inc. in New York. Marconi Bros also sold records in the 1930s and were, according to their own words, New York's foremost Victor Records dealer. After the war they specialised in hard-to-get, out-of-print records. Advertisements exist into the 1960s. In A. Ghirardi's 1943 Radio Troubleshooter's Handbook, the two names are mentioned side by side under the brand listing "Marconiphone, Marconi Bros., Inc. (also called Marconiphone Co.)" with the address 679 Madison Ave. |
