Started as Capital Phonolier Company which went bankrupt, new backer reorganized as Shepard Potter Company in Plattsburgh, NY, which changed the name into Thermiodyne Radio Corp. which Leo Potter lead to bankruptcy (auction Januar 1927). Leo Potter bought the trade name and reorganized to Algonquin Electric Co. Inc., Poughkeepsie, New York. The Shepard-Potter Company had been previously been organized as the Capital Phonolier Corporation selling the "All Wave" Coupler which was now used in the new companies first product the Shepco 1-tube regenerative receiver. The earlier company had been involved in the manufacture of a novelty lamp radio. The new Shepard-Potter company had moved to Plattsburgh, New York because their new "financier" owned an empty factory there. |
