In 1924, Cyril French set up a shop to manufacture loudspeakers in Hampton Wick. He and his brothers took over the Thames Valley Plating Works in 1924 and created the Electrical Manufacturing and Plating Co., who launched the first Celestion loudspeaker early 1925. [1]

The Celestion Radio Co. was registered December 1st, 1925 by Cyril French. [2]

In 1927, an interest in the French company Éts. Constable & Cie was acquired, the firm subsequently changing the name to Constable-Celestion.

The Celestion Radio Co. business was purchased in 1928 by the Celestion Ltd. for £69,000 in cash. [3]

British Rola Ltd. acquired Celestion on 13th April 1947 together with a few subsidiary firms. [1]

In July 1948 production of speakers in Kingston-upon-Thames ceased, and machinery and personell moved to Thames Ditton. The company name changed to Rola Celestion Ltd. and Celestion was registered and adopted as a trade mark. [1]

Rola Celestion was acquired by Truvox in 1949. [1] In 1953, both British Rola Ltd.and Celestion Ltd. held ther final meetings, capital being returned to investors. [3]

The company was brought together with a publicly-quoted clothing company in 1970. The holding company created was named Celestion Industries plc. [1]

Subsidiaries were created in France (September 1976), West-Germany (October 1976) and USA (February 1977). [1]

In 1979, the name Celestion International was adopted as a corporate entity for the parent company and all major overseas subsidiaries. [1]

As of 1990, the company Celestion International Ltd. operated in Ipswich, having as parent the Celestion Industries plc. [4]

In 1992, Celestion International Ltd was sold, as a separate entity from the clothing division, to Kinergetics Holdings (UK) Ltd. The group also acquired KEF of Maidstone, another British loudspeaker company, at the same time. [1]

As of 2002, Celestion and KEF manufacturing operations are united under the banner of KH Manufacturing Ltd., while Celestion International Ltd is responsible for research, development, sales and marketing. [1]
