Abbreviation: majestic
Summary:

Majestic Electric Co. Ltd.
Majestic Works, Tariff Rd., Tottenham, London N17. (1930)

Majestic Electric Co., Ltd. (248,301), was a private company set up with a capital of £10,000 to act as agents for the sale and distribution of wireless and gramophone goods, etc. [1]

They imported Majestic brand radio products from the US company Grigsby-Grunow Co.

These radios were possibly modified in the US or by the British company for the higher British AC mains voltage. The Model 50 is an example. [2]

Their demise was caused when the British General Tariff applied a 10 percent tax to imports from non-commonwealth companies in 1932 and the US company went bankrupt in 1933.

A service company, Imperic (service) Co. Ltd., undertook repairs to majestic products in Britain.[3]

A later company, Majestic Electric Co. (1937), Ltd. of 15, Queensway, Ponders End, Middlesex was a photographic, chemical, and meteorological instrument company. [4]
