Storia:

Founded by Robert Noel Fitton (1912-1998) in 1929. [1]

In 1939 registered as R. N. FITTON, Ltd., Hutchinson Lane, Brighouse, to take over the business of manufacturers of wireless receiving apparatus carried on by R. N. Fitton. Nominal capital, £15,000 in pound shares (5,000 preference and 10,000 ordinary). Permanent directors: R. N. Fitton and R. S. Fitton, 39, Garden Road, Brighouse.[2]

In the early 1950s F.H. Beaumont of R.N. Fitton wrote an IRE paper on the comparator receiver, namely “The Design of a Comparator A.M./F.M. Broadcast Receiver” for a superheterodyne receiver suitable for making subjective comparisons of amplitude and frequency modulation transmissions on very high frequencies. [3]

In early 1955 Hartley Baird Ltd. (formerly Baird Television) a major British TV-radio manufacturer, acquired Ambassador Radio & Television Ltd., which will continue under its own name as a wholly owned subsidiary with R. N. Fitton remaining as managing director and joining Hartley-Baird board as director in charge of TV & radio. Ambassador shareholders received 1,000,000 shares of Hartley Baird which also issued 100,000 shares of 7% second cumulative £1 pfd. Shares.[4]

By April 1957 The Hartley Baird group of companies which included manufacturers Baird and Ambassador domestic receivers and tape recorders, Hartley Electromotives whose products include magnetic recorders, Duratube & Wire, Tenaplas, and three electrical appliance companies were acquired by Camp Bird, Ltd. (a company with interests in mining, industrial and finance).  [5]

1957 R N Fitton resigned as managing director [1]

1963 Hartley Electromotives petitioned for the winding up of Ambassador Radio and Television. [6]
