Telefongyar (Terta) produced commercial and military models. In 1955 the radio production was renewed based on some Orion models. Orion was the brand for Export only. First brand name: TRT - but not for Export.

Production of radios was closed because the government re-located all radio manufacturing activities in the country to one single company, VT (Videoton) in 1963. 

Telefongyár was producing - as it can be guessed from its name (Gyár == Factory) - wireline telephone sets. They also manufactured several electrical components, from which they built radios in the WW1 era. By this time (until the end of WW2) they were closely coupled to Telefunken. Telefongyár gave up the manufacturing of public radio sets in the '20s, and continued to make military transceivers as well as railway security equipment (Domino system). They had several own developments in the fields mentioned above.

After WW2, in the '50s they were manufacturing magnetophones for public use, as well as more sophisticated telephone systems (PBX). At the late '60s, Telefongyár was involved to the early development and manifacturing of computers - focussing on the field of remote data transmission / remote data processing. Beside this, the more evolved digital transmission techniques like PCM also appeared on the pallette.

Telefongyár was privatized by Siemens Hungary after the "change of system" in 1992. Siemens Hungary has its headquarters in the old (well-renovated) buildings of Telefongyár, at Budapest in the XIVth district (Gizella út).
