PRD was founded in 1944 by Polytechnic of Brooklyn to start a mass production of 10000 RF attenuators, after a laboratory sample had been approved for military applications. The staff was directed by Dr. Ernst Weber, born in Vienna, Austria, on September 6, 1901. Dr. Weber had worked at Siemens-Schuckert Company, first in Vienna and later in Berlin. Moved in 1930 at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, in World War II, Dr. Weber organized a microwave research group and, after the first said production order, directed the activities of PRD. Under his guide, PRD played a dynamic role in manufacturing microwave components and equipment inspired to the research of Polytechnic.
