While trying to bring life back to a 179 Crosley I found the primary winding of the RF transformer, [ plate to B+ ] winding to be open. Because of the difficulty of finding a replacement, or trying to rewind the open winding, I bypassed the open winding with a 25K resistor at 1 watt , then connected a 500pf capacitor to the plate of the RF Amplifier tube and to the grid of the Oscillator Modulator tube. Easy fix and the radio now plays very well.

Please post from the relevant model page, not in talk.

Well, it works, but it is a makeshift solution. If possible a correct replacement should take place (look for a basket case contemporary Crosley chassis).

Good luck !

Your posts prompted a post from me sharing my experience with untuned RF transformer repair.

Thanks for the resistor tip, just the same.
