The Radio Amateur`s Handbook (1978 - 55th edition)

The Radio Amateur's Handbook is the annual publication of the American Radio Relay League. Each edition contains information pertaining to all facets of amateur radio, including radio communication theory and many construction articles on building various types of equipment. Besides the wealth of information on radio communication, for many years the Handbook included a "catalog" section of manufacturer advertisements. Each edition of the Handbook contains substantially updated information and different articles, making each edition unique from the others.

With the 1985 edition, the titled changed to The ARRL Handbook for the Radio Amateur.  And in 2003 it bacame The ARRL Handbook for Radio Communications. This last change in title was to broaden the books readership, as the ARRL 2017 website states, "...today’s Handbook is a comprehensive technical reference used by radio amateurs, experimenters, students, and practicing engineers."

Note that the frequency of the Handbook was a little more than annual during the first decade of publication. Also, in 1942, a Special Defense Edition was published along with the regular Handbook.
