The Beyer Zurich Clock and Watch Museum is housed in Zurich's most prestigious shopping district, situated in the very heart of the city, in the premises of the Beyer watch store.
Description

Beyer Clock and Watch Museum:
The Beyer Watch Museum was founded in 1971 when Theodor Beyer (1926 - 2002) decided to make his internationally renowned private collection accessible to the public. His son René Beyer (*1963) continues the family tradition with great passion and is constantly adding top-class exhibits to the world-famous collection.

The collection of the Beyer Watch Museum is one of the most important in the world. It tells the complete story of timekeeping from 1400 BC to the present day. It gives visitors an impressive insight into the wondrous world of clocks and watches and the fascinating art of their manufacture. The exhibition includes rare and precious exhibits such as shadow sticks, sundials, oil clocks, hourglasses, water clocks, grandfather clocks, table clocks, pocket watches and wristwatches as well as scientific instruments for determining time and for navigation. In addition, historical clockworks, which are rarely in operation due to their fragile mechanics, come to life in enchanting films.

The clocks are exhibited in groups in the museum:
Elementary Clocks (I),
Curiosities (II),
Iron and wooden clocks from the 14th to the 18th century (III),
Clocks from the 17th/18th century (IV),
18th/19th century (V),
19th/20th century (VI).
The display case with the Renaissance clocks (VI) is a focal point.

The Beyer Watch Museum is one of Zurich's major attractions. It is located at Bahnhofstrasse 31 and can be reached through the Beyer Uhren & Juwelen store. The oldest watch store in Switzerland can be recognized by the striking golden clock above the shop windows. The museum is also easily accessible for people in wheelchairs. It is staffed by specialists who will be happy to answer your questions. Information is also available in various languages. We are happy to guide groups and school classes through our museum by prior arrangement. Souvenirs are available in our small museum store.
