Gelände frei zugänglich;
Schwebefähre: Sommer 5-23 Uhr; Winter 5-22 Uhr; jede Viertelstunde, soweit es der Schiffsverkehr erlaubt und die Fähre nach dem Unfall wieder repariert sein wird.
Brücken-Führung: 01.05. - 30.09. jeden Sonntag um 14 + 15 Uhr; Treffpunkt Info-Schild auf der Nordseite des Nord-Ostsee-Kanals neben dem Restaurant Brückenterrassen.

Description

The first Transporter Bridge was built near Bilbao in Spain and is still used today. Worldwide less than twenty transporter bridges were built, of which 6 are currently in operation.

- Pont Transbordeur de Rochefort- Martrou, France, 1900
- Newport Transporter Bridge - Newport, UK, 1906
- Schwebefähre Osten–Hemmoor - Osten, Germany, 1909
- Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge - Middlesbrough, UK, 1911
- Rendsburger Hochbrücke mit Schwebefähre - Rendsburg, Germany, 1913

2 Transporter Bridges can be seen out of operation and only as a technical monument and from the outside:
