Description | THE ARTISTIC PROJECTLes Machines de l’île is an unprecedented artistic project. Born from the imaginations of François Delarozière and Pierre Orefice, it is a blend of the invented worlds of Jules Verne, the mechanical universe of Leonardo da Vinci, and the industrial history of Nantes, on the exceptional site of the former shipyards. THE GREAT ELEPHANTHe lives in the central street of the Nefs. When the majestic animal goes out for its walk, it is like architecture in motion departing a steel cathedral. The 50 passengers on board embark on an amazing journey on the Ile de Nantes. Each time the pachyderm goes out, it is a unique spectacle for everyone to enjoy. THE MACHINE GALLERYThe Gallery is a living space where new machines are exhibited after they are created in the workshop of the company La Machine. While the elements of the Marine Worlds have joined the Carousel, a totally different universe has been set in the Gallery… one of plants and the Heron Tree. THE MARINE WORLDS CAROUSELLocated on the banks of the Loire river, opposite the Jules Verne Museum, the Marine Worlds Carousel seems to come out of the isle of Nantes’s belly at the most maritime place of the city. THE WORKSHOP OF THE COMPANY LA MACHINECross the street of the Nefs and head over to the workshop terraces via the great staircase. THE PROTOTYPE BRANCH OF THE HERON TREEIt’s a preview of the major project of the Machines de l’île : the Heron tree |
