| Description | The Kouvola Radio Museum, situated in The Museum Quarter of Kaunismurmi Area, features the different decades of the tube radio from the 1920's to the 1960's.
The Kouvola Radio Museum is a milieu museum that features in chronological order the different decades of the tube radio from the 1920's to the 1960's. Changing exhibits feature specialties and activities from the history of the radio. While the museum tells the story of the history of radio, it also tells about the way people lived in Kouvola during the township era. The wooden house has several rooms with furniture of the radios from 1920's, 1930's, 1940' and 1950's. This is so-called milieu museum, which had an amateur radio station on the 2nd floor. The new building consists both civillian and military tube radios. There is no physical separation between the civillian part and military part. |

MiljöömuseoMiljöömuseo on päärakennuksessa. Se on alunperin ollut rautatievirkamies Hjalmar Kuokkasen ja hänen perheensä asunto. Alakerran huoneissa on kymmenluvuittain 1920 – 1960 sen ajan kodin tekniset apuvälineet (radio, levysoitin, puhelin yms.) sijoitettuina vastaavan vuosikymmenen kalustettuun asuinhuoneeseen.SotilasradiomuseoSotilasradiomuseo sijaitsee radiomuseon kanssa museon uudessa rakennuksessa. Siellä ovat esillä talvi- ja jatkosodan aikaiset eri ryhmittymien käyttämät radiolaitteet sekä myös sodan jälkeen käytössä olleet radiot.RadiomuseoRadiomuseossa on runsaasti eri maissa valmistettuja eri aikakausien radioita. Esillä museossa on n. 300 radiolaitetta 20- luvun kidekoneista hienoihin 50- ja 60- lukujen kaappiradioihin. Lisäksi nåytteillä on runsas joukko erilaisia levysoittimia ja magnetofoneja. Varaston puolella on lisää yli 2000 museon toimintaan liittyvää museoesinettä.RadioamatööritMuseon toiminnallinen osa on radioamatööriasema OH5K. Se toimii näytös- ja opetusluontoisesti. Esillä on kokoelma käytössä olleita radioamatöörilaitteita, rigejä. Kaikkihan tietävät radion alkuajoilta harrastuspohjalla toimineet amatöörit. Radioaseman amatöörit osallistuvat toisen maailmansodan aikaisilla radiolla ns. perinneradiotapahtumiin aina 4.6. ja 6.12.Radion kehitysEnnen radiota tiedonsiirron välineitä olivat langaton lennätin, puhelin, lankalennätin, optinen lennätin, kirje(kyyhky), viestikapula, kellojen soitto ja savumerkit. Langatonta (morse)lennätintä käyttivät aluksi laivat. Radio-ohjelmat alkoivat 1920- luvulla gramofonimusiikilla ja uutisilla sekä kommenteilla. |
