Description | The light ship was decommissioned in 1975 and bought/restored by Hull City Council in 1983 before being moved to Hull Marina as a museum in 1987. The Spurn Lightship guided ships safely through the treacherous River Humber for almost 50 years. Step aboard to discover how it was used as a navigational aid and find out what life was like on board. An interpretation panel at the Marina explains its history and various parts for visitors when the ship is closed. Following a 14-month restoration, the Spurn Lightship returned to Hull Marina on 9 March 2023. It is now berthed in a temporary berth until a new permanent home is built.
