Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Residents of the London Borough of Hounslow are entitled to a 50% discount on Museum entry (proof of residence required, ticket valid on the day of purchase only). The Riverview Tea Room is open at weekends. The museum is close to Kew Bridge on the north side of the Thames. It is easily accessible from the M4 and the North & South Circular roads. There is a car park, no charge. Train: from London’s Waterloo Station to Kew Bridge Turn right when leaving the station and the museum is under a 10 minute walk. Underground: District Line to Gunnersbury, then 237 or 267 bus alighting opposite the museum. Alternatively, Piccadilly Line to South Ealing, then the 65 bus passes the museum. |

Museum & ToursThe fascinating range of self-playing instruments and music rolls tells the story of how people listened to music before the days of microphones and electronics. From the tiniest of clockwork musical boxes to the ‘Mighty Wurlitzer’ the collection embraces an array of sophisticated reproducing pianos, orchestrions, orchestrelles, residence organs and self-playing violins.Tour guide and live musical demonstrations each day at 11.30, 13.30 and 15.30 You will find out how music was captured, instruments powered and experience the sounds and actions of self-playing instruments. Tours for group visits may be booked for all opening days by prior arrangement. Audio guides to the collection are available in English, French, German and Polish at all times and are included in the admission fee. |
