Smiljan (pronounced is a village in the mountainous region of Western Lika in Croatia. It is located 6 km (3.7 mi) northwest of Gospić, and fifteen kilometers from the Zagreb-Split highway.

Memorijalni centar "Nikola Tesla" s novim postavom otvorenim 2006. g., pokazuje životni put i genijalnost velikog izumitelja Nikole Tesle (1856. - 1943.), jednoga od najvećih znanstvenika, pronalazača i humanista, rodom iz Smiljana pokraj Gospića.  

Memorijalni centar obuhvaća rodnu kuću sa stalnim postavom, crkvu sv. apostola Petra i Pavla (u kojoj je Teslin otac Milutin bio paroh) s grobljem, gospodarski objekt, potok Vaganac, zaravanak podno brda Bogdanić, tematski park što ga čine vanjski auditorij za prezentaciju Teslinih izuma i predavanja, multimedijski centar, most/platforma za demonstracije, hi-tech dječje igralište, spomenik Tesli - rad kipara Mile Blaževića, tri kamene skulpture i kamene klupe arhitekta Zdenka Kolacija iz 1976. g

U vanjskom prostoru nalaze se Teslini izumi: smanjena replika ispitne stanice iz Colorado Springsa kojom je Tesla proučavao munje, eksperimentirao s bežičnim prijenosom energije i eksperimentirao s visokofrekventnom strujom; prototip robotiziranog broda iz 1898. g. kojim se upravlja radiovalovima te turbina konstruirana od niza paralelnih diskova.
