Haaksbergen is a municipality and a town in the eastern Netherlands, in the province of Overijssel, in the Twente region.
The Buurserbeek flows through the municipality of Haaksbergen.

Parking:

opposite station Haaksbergen, Bouwmeester (near Assink Lyceum) and at the Parallelweg (next to the steam depot and station yard) . Free of charge at the time of this writing (26-04-2017). Other places: don’t forget to display your parking disc.
Disabled persons: directly to the wall of our stationbuilding are to parkingplaces created for handicapped persons. Please contact us if both places are already occupied.

Public transport:

if you travel by public transport you may take the bus to Haaksbergen from Hengelo NS station. The bus stop Mr. Eenhuisstraat is just 120 metres beyond the MBS station at Haaksbergen.

Parkeren:

tegenover station Haaksbergen en aan de parallelweg (naast het emplacement van het museum) is ruim parkeergelegenheid. Parkeren is gratis.

Openbaar vervoer:

komt u met het openbaar vervoer dan kunt u het beste reizen via Hengelo (OV). Vanaf Hengelo neemt u dan de bus naar Haaksbergen, bushalte Mr. Eenhuisstraat ligt op circa 120 meter van het station.

Aims and purposes

The main purpose is to realise and maintain a historic railway company and museum, with special attention to local (light) railways in Nederland. The trust pursues this aim by acquiring, maintaining and operating or exhibiting:

  • Historic railway rolling stock
  • The railway and its operating with historic rolling stock
  • Historic artefacts relating to railways
  • Those artefacts which are related to the same in the widest sense of the word, and all other activities related to this in the widest sense.

 

Secondary purpose Museum Buurtspoorweg

The secondary purpose is to pay attention to the history of local (light) railways in The Netherlands, especially those in the border region with Germany.

In short: The Museum Buurtspoorweg preserves an authentic part of the former G.O.L.S. network in the heart of the former textile region.
