THE RTM TRAMWAY MUSEUM AT OUDDORP (NETHERLANDS)

Until February 1966 the 'Rotterdamsche Tramweg Maatschappij' (Rotterdam Tramway Company) operated an extensive network of narrow-gauge tramways between Rotterdam and the islands south of the city. Our museum at Ouddorp on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee, staffed entirely by volunteers, has succeeded in acquiring and preserving a representative part of the rolling stock of the former RTM. This includes steam as well as diesel locomotives, railcars, passenger carriages and goods vans and trucks. You can find a list of our rolling stock by clicking on the link 'Materieel' in the main Dutch-language page on this site. We run a regular service using these trams on our museum tramway, approximately 6 miles long, between the depot at De Punt West and our new terminus West Repart/Dolfijn just outside the village of Scharendijke.

De Stichting voorheen RTM (vroegere naam: Rijdend Tram-Museum) is een trammuseum en voert op de route Punt van Goeree (Ouddorp) – Port Zélande – Scharendijke op de Brouwersdam een tramdienst uit met historisch materieel van de vroegere Rotterdamse Tramweg Maatschappij (RTM). Dit is de enige in Nederland overgebleven lijn op 'Kaapspoor', met een spoorwijdte van 1067 mm, waarop vroeger veel Nederlandse tramlijnen en buitenlandse spoorlijnen waren aangelegd. De stoomtram van de RTM had een lugubere bijnaam. In verband met de vele ongelukken in de druk bevolkte wijken in Rotterdam-Zuid werd hij 'het moordenaartje' genoemd.
