Wałbrzych (German: Waldenburg) is a city in Lower Silesian Voivodeship in south-western Poland.

Old Mine Science and Art Centre

On 9 November, Old Mine Science and Art Centre was opened in Wałbrzych. The complex combines museum, exposition, educational and service functions. In addition, non-governmental organisations have their seats there.

City’s cultural centre

The Old Mine houses, among other things:
Wałbrzych Culture Centre together with the Song and Dance Wałbrzych band.
Unique Ceramics Centre,
Geology and Archaeology Museum.

An additional attraction is the possibility to walk almost one-kilometre long underground route located on the promises of the closed mine. Visitors can also use an observation tower.

(other)		 Centrum Nauki i Sztuki Stara Kopalnia to otwarty 9 listopada 2014 roku nowoczesny, zrewitalizowany kompleks obiektów powstały na bazie dawnej, wałbrzyskiej Kopalni Węgla Kamiennego „Julia”. Zakończenie eksploatacji wałbrzyskich pokładów węgla dało początek procesowi poszukiwania nowej treści dla postindustrialnej przestrzeni, stanowiącej niegdyś serce robotniczego Wałbrzycha. Zwieńczeniem koncepcji „ożywienia” obiektów dawnej Kopalni „Julia” stała się realizacja projektu rewitalizacji i adaptacji na cele kulturalne pokopalnianych przestrzeni, dając tym samym początek zupełnie nowej, bezprecedensowej instytucji – Centrum Nauki i Sztuki Stara Kopalnia.

Trasa 1 – Zabytkowa kopalnia "Julia"

Maszyny warsztatu mechanicznego,
Wielkogabarytowe maszyny i urządzenia transportu kopalnianego,
Replika sztolni górniczej "Julia" z maszynami i urządzeniami górniczymi do urabiania i ładowania węgla.

Trasa 2 – Zabytkowa "Lisia sztolnia" i szyb "Sobótka"

Zrąb szybu "Sobótka",
Maszyna wyciągowa z 1912 r.,
Ekspozycja szybowych maszyn i urządzeń górniczych,
Szyb "Sobótka" o głębokości 33 metrów oraz "Lisia Sztolnia" o długości około 200 metrów.
