Description |
Lightship Columbia—a National Historic Landmark
The Columbia was stationed 5.3 statute miles from the mouth of the Columbia River beginning in April 1951. Serving as a floating lighthouse, the lightship marked the approach to the Columbia River.
The Columbia WLV-604 was decommissioned in 1979, and arrived at the Columbia River Maritime Museum on December 9, 1980. She is the first vessel in Oregon to be placed on the National Register.
She is the sister ship to Lightship Relief (WAL-605). |
