Devoted to the history of America’s mail service and the hobby of stamp collecting.
The National Postal Museum is divided into galleries that explore America's postal history from colonial times to the present. Visitors learn how mail has been transported, emphasize the importance of letters, and spotlight the creation and wondrous diversity of postage stamps.
Highlights:
Full-size, Freightliner semitruckcab cutaway; three vintage mail planes; stagecoach; 1931 Ford Model A postal truck; replica of a railway car; letters; updated exhibition on the Pony Express; special exhibits of rare and important stamps; videos, computer interactives, and hands-on activities |
