Description The mission of the Union Pacific Railroad Museum is to provide quality exhibits and educational programming to a diverse audience about the past, present and future of America's premierrailroad, Union Pacific, promoting a sense of connectedness shared by generations of people whose personal and family histories have been touched by the railroad.

Exhibits

America Travels by Rail
This unique exhibit will bring to life the travel and destinations Americans have enjoyed from the 1930s until passenger service transferred to Amtrak in 1971.

The Lincoln Collection
Our Lincoln collection memorializes and celebrates the life of President Abraham Lincoln, who – upon signing the Pacific Railway Act – became Union Pacific's founding father, forever connecting and uniting the nation.

Building America
Since opening in the Council Bluffs Carnegie Library in 2003, the Union Pacific Railroad Museum's first floor has been dedicated to sharing the experience of building the Transcontinental Railroad. The current exhibit takes the telling of this story to an entirely new level. With an immersive design and cutting-edge technology, visitors will be transported to the 1860s as they learn about frontier life, the monumental work required to construct the railroad and the communities that were created along its route.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
The Union Pacific Railroad Museum in Council Bluffs, Iowa, houses one of the oldest corporate collections in the United States. It includes artifacts, photographs, and documents that trace the development of the railroad and the American West.

The completion of Union Pacific’s transcontinental railroad in 1869 helped shape the landscape and geography and brought tens of thousands of westward-bound immigrants to the American West.

The museum’s collection features weapons from the late 19th and 20th centuries, outlaw paraphernalia, a sampling of the immigrants’ possessions, and a photograph collection comprising more than 500,000 images.[16]

In 2009, the America’s Power Factuality Tour stopped at the Union Pacific Railroad Museum to report on the railroad’s role in generating electricity in the United States
