  • Anotaciones
  • The Belmont 585 is an AC operated 5 tube BC and SW band receiver. This model was available with 4 different chassis as described below and was also sold under various brand names such as Montgomery Ward Airline 585D and Truetone (possibly others).

Here are the major differences between the chassis types:

Chassis IF Tube Output Tube IF Frequency BC Band (kHz) SW Band 1 (MHz) SW Band 2 (MHz)
    A 6D6 42 370 540-1720 2.3-7.6 7.5-23.0
    B 6D6 42 370 530-1720 2.35-7.7 7.6-19.0
    C 6D6 42 465 530-1720 2.35-7.7 7.6-19.0
    D 6K7 6F6 465 530-1720 2.35-7.7 7.6-19.0

Note: Series "B" and "C" chassis are serially numbered on back flange of chassis, with series B beginning with number "5A100510B" and up, series "C" chassis beginning with number "5B105635C".  Series "B" and "C" may be identified by the letter "B" or "C" at the end of the serial number.

The Mark Stein book shows a slightly different cabinet (2 columns on front woodwork), and suspect that this is actually the Airline 62-198 (Which uses the belmont 585D chassis).
