  • Notes
  • A component of Pioneer's Pure Multi Component in-car hi-fi system, the CD-646 multi-channel crossover network is an electronic 'prism' that works by dividing an audio signal into either two or three separate frequency bands, each one individually amplified reducing distortion to an absolute minimum. Separate speaker pairs are used for each frequency band, faithfully reproducing the entire sound spectrum inside the car for an all-round stereo effect. The Pure Multi concept may also be easily incorporated into any existing Pioneer component system using at least two amplifiers plus separate woofers and TS-T4 tweeters/TS-S7 super tweeters. In Order to compensate for the varying acoustical problems presented by different cars, the CD-646 provides four crossover selectors, enabling turnover frequencies to be individually changed at -

    (A) The high end of the lowest frequency range (250/370/500Hz)
    (B) The low end of the middle frequency range (250/370/500Hz)
    (C) The high end of the middle frequency range (4/6/8kHz)
    (D) The low end of the high frequency range (4/6/8kHz)

It also has a phase shift feature which ensures ideal phasing between different amplifier/speaker pairs
