  • Bemerkung
  • The model Nocturne 1186 was introduced early in 1936. We have to see it in a whole family of extraordinary designed models from the same designer: The asymmetric Sparton model 558 Deluxe is sometimes called "Sled Peach Mirror Tube Radio" because of the peach tinted mirror glass sled (suffix C). But there are also blue ones (suffix B). The model 558 is a deluxe version of 557 (with 3 straight knobs) and was introduced a year later, in June 1937 for season 1937/38. Before the 557 there was already the extraordinary 506 Bluebird and the 506 with peach mirror with a much later replicas and here and here.

46" dia. mirror glass & chrome; designed by the famous Walter Dorwin Teague (Kodak). See also the Sparton models 558. Tuning eye, push-pull audio amplifier. Sparks ads tell us: "Daring and brilliant ensemble in glass and metal by Walter Dowin Teague...A circle of midnight blue Tufflex mirror glass rests in a satin chrome cradle...Beautiful stage setting for high-fidelity receiver cleverly concealed behind the chrome barred grille..."
