The RME 9 Comms receiver is from 1932 and makes use of the 2A5. see Moore, Comm's. Receivers.

In order to characterize popular receiving types, manufacturers were asked to supply average characteristics as measured on production lots. Here are the filled answer forms supplied by Radio Valve Co., Raytheon, Sparton, Triad, Tung Sol, Ken Rad, Hytron and Arcturus. Full record is downloadable here. A Pilot brand 2A5 has been located which has an S 17 bulb, Most have an St14 bulb.
