Company Description
Clevite Corporation of Cleveland, Ohio entered the semiconductor market in 1953 by purchasing Transistor Products Inc. an early manufacturer of point-contact devices located near Boston, MA. Under the name Clevite Transistor Products (CTP), the company became a major producer of germanium power transistors. In the early 1960s Clevite developed a number of custom ICs for the Minuteman missile and purchased Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory from Beckman.Clevite was acquired by Gould-National Batteries.
