Description |
this "soft" tube was designed by Captain Henry J Round for the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company. Intended for military use, they were first utilised as telephone repeater tbes, having a high gain. they were unreliable as gas prewssure was known to fail. this problem was overcome by watming the asbestos in the tube at the top of the bulb.
They were used in the British Military during WorldWar One as somewhat sensitive detectors, when proprerly adjusted.
