Description |
Ten-stage, ruggedized version of 4440, flat-faced type having S-11 response. Wavelength of maximum response is 4400 +/- 500 angstroms. Makes use of copper-beryllium dynodes and a flat-circular, cesium-antimony, semi-transparent photocathode. Window material is Corning No. 0080 lime glass or equivalent. Has a non-hygroscopic base. Has a base flange and flying leads.
For detection and measurement of nuclear radiation and other low-level light sources. Especially useful in missile and rocket service and other industrial and military applications where severe environmental conditions may be encountered.
Flew for NASA aboard the Orbital Solar Observatory OSO C in1965, and in outer space aboard the Environmental Research Satellite ERS 18 in 1967.
