Description |
Page no 671 of the Fall 1928 issue of the Sears Roebuck catalog announces a new catalog number for radio tubes, 46XX, replacing the earlier 29XX series. The company sold the standard range of US designed and made tubes and these tubes were made by a few small manufacturers. The "WLS" (Worlds Largest Store) brand was either hot branded on the base of these tubes or a paper label on the glass. The 4601 was made by Solartron and is the only tube in the catalogs showing the 46XX series to have an actual manufacturers name. The name is also shown in the Spring 1929 catalog. The Fall 1929 catalog has an entirely new catalog number series with the 4601 becoming the 57T201A
