Description

30 channels electrostatically focused and deflected radial selector. It is capable of selecting one out of 29 input channels for transmission over a single carrier in multiplexing or telemetering applications. The 5729 has 30 control grids, to separate input leads, one output lead common to 29 anodes and a separate lead for the thirtieth anode. The rotation of the electron beam from one position to the next is accomplished by applying a 6-phase a.c. voltage to six screen grid segments

The 5729 is the multiplexer in a 29 channel transmission system which includes the decoder 5730. The separate anode is used to synchronize the multiplexing operations. Description of the system is given in the attached documentation from the TCA archives.
