Description |
6844 was the RMA-EIA registration code for the early 1" indicator HB106, proposed as companion of the 6700 beam switching tube. 1" character height, 0 to 9 digits, flat top view.
Production was first run in Plainfield, N.J., by Haydu Brothers. After their merging with Burroughs, production continued at the same plant in Plainfield, with the mark Burroughs. In December 1955 Haydu used for the first time the name 'Nixie' to advertise this indicator.
The HB106 tube was registered to Burroughs as 6844 in 1957.
But this Nixie-tube 6844A is most probably a follower with nearly the same data. Who knows more?
