Description |
The first WE X-band reflex klystron, intended as local oscillator in radar receivers. It was designed in 1941 to be tuned around the frequency of the matching magnetron 2J21, about 9365MHz. Deformable metal envelope, with tuning struts welded to its side. The same tube was later modified in the 723B, moving the welded end of the strut on the base ring in order to cover an extended tuning range.
Coaxial out probe through pin 4 of the octal-like base; reflector to the top cap.
Resonator current 22mA typical, 25mW out.
Also known as 'Pierce.Shepherd design' in honor of its developers at WE.
