| Description |
The 8417 is one of the last audio output amplifier tubes to appear on the US market, and is used in high quality, high performance sound systems.
In the design of the tube, emphasis was placed on large mutual conductance, small screen grid current and high output power, while maintaining a compact design.
Theoretically the perfect output tube for push-pull output stages, but in practice it has proven to be less robust for this very reason. In particular, a significant increase in the control grid current is often seen early on, which can increasingly lead to an undesirable rise of th plate current in the tube and thus to an overload. The control grid series resistor must therefore be selected with sufficiently low value, preferably significantly less than 100 kOhm.
Max. plate dissipation is 35 Watts.
