Descripción

2.5 Ampére Rectifier

Information on the Raytheon "A" rectifier found in the August 1927 issue of "Radio News":

It´s a cold, apparently electrolytic rectifier cell for low voltages and high currents, designed for battery charging. Maximum reverse voltage is 22V, maximum operating current around 2A.

More information and discussion could be found here. The drawings on this sheet are taken from the posts of the mentioned forum thread.

"A revolutionary scientific achievement in high current, low voltage rectification. Raytheon A-2 1/2 amps. is revolutionary in principle, in construction, in performance. It is an unbreakable metal cartridge, compact and simple, without liquids or filaments. Above all, it is The Efficient Rectifier. Its operating cost over the period of a year, compared with that of other types of rectifiers designed for similar uses, will show a cash saving of many dollars. Raytheon A-2 1/2 amps. was ivented by Monsieur André of La Radiotechnique in Paris, and developed by the Raytheon Research Laboratories with his co-operation. Battery chargers and "A" power units using this remarkable rectifier will bear the same seal of approval that distinguishes all Raytheon-equipped power devices."
