Description |
Tungsten filament saturated diode, designed to be used as RF noise generator.
18mA mean anode current, typically at 6.25 to 6.75 V.
7V max filament voltage, resulting in a reduced life in the order of 100 hours.
During WWII this tube was appreciated as one of the best noise source. The schematic diagram of a noise generator using CV172 is even given in the volume 'Microwave Receivers' from the MIT Radiation Laboratory series.
